Date night, Home to ... somewhere, Saturday night

The fortunate thing about finding a world in which an avant-garde opera they might both enjoy was playing, was that such places also tended to have somewhat outre ideas of fashion. It might be Hannibal's birthday, but he wasn't in a mood to make Jono uncomfortable or start any fights. Instead, Hannibal's plaid would be downright staid where they were going, and if Jono wasn't careful, he might start a trend.

Right now, though, Hannibal was trying to decide upon a tie that fit the evening. He'd had one chosen earlier, but had foolishly left it hanging too close to the bed, and it had been summarily pulled down - at the moment it was being used as a cat bed. Even if he could pull it out, the grey hairs on it weren't going anywhere any time soon.

If anybody expressed any displeasure about it at their wedding, Hannibal would be stocking his larder with them.

"I hadn't thought of the possibility of you not having them visible," Hannibal answered. He brought out his phone, and by the time they'd made it to their seats, he had enough of a search to find something. "What would you say to something along the lines of this? More formal, perhaps, and sturdier, but this sort of look?"

Jono leaned in to look at the phone as he sat down, raising an eyebrow curiously.

He suspected Hannibal wasn't talking about the pompadour.

//That, perhaps with something solid still covering the bottom of my face, because I am not fumbling for a ring I can't see through fire,// he mused. //Could actually work. You'll need to actually get me into a shirt like that to really sell me on it, though. Not sure how it would work, admittedly. I haven't tried sheer before.//

Hannibal nodded. "We'd have to have you try on various designs, to see which is most flattering and practical." He gave Jono a look. "And we are absolutely taking both of those into account. Your wedding should be an occasion for flattering clothing if anything is."

And yes, Jono, it would flatter you, and you would look wonderful. Despite your hang-ups.

Jono would need to see this to believe this, but miracles did sometimes happen, right?

//So it should,// he allowed with an amused little nod of his head. //And if anybody can find something that'll flatter me that won't make me claw out my own eyeballs, it is you.//

He could say whatever he wanted about Hannibal's sense of style-- the truth remained that the man had a firm grasp of Jonothon's own sensibilities, too, and didn't hesitate to take advantage of that whenever he was able.

To be fair, there was nothing Hannibal would hesitate to take advantage of whenever he was able.

"No eyeball clawing, I promise," he said, grinning. "At least not for the clothes themselves; I make no promises as to the process of finding and altering them."

//I suppose if I don't have eyeballs, I won't be able to tell just how horrid some of the options actually are,// Jono mused. //Still, I'd like to at least start with something I don't immediately loathe...//

He wasn't going to hold his breath, but Hannibal's suggestion had been a good one...

"I'll do my best," Hannibal promised. "I always do."

[furnaceface]

//If you did any less, I'd have to wonder if the island was acting up again,// Jono agreed, amused. //Or if you were just teasing me.//

Either was possible.

[sharp_as_knives]

"Entirely possible," Hannibal said with a little smirk, "but nothing to harm your eyes. Although possibly a haircut," he allowed.

Not a pompadour.

[furnaceface]

So much pompadour.

//All of the traditional pre-wedding grooming, then?// Jono leaned over a little to bump his shoulder against Hannibal's. //I suppose for the sake of getting married, I can be talked into a haircut.//

"And a manicure?" Hannibal asked. "Perhaps a bit of pampering for the rest of you?"

For the sake of getting married, naturally.

[furnaceface]

You were getting squinted at now, Hannibal.

//... I might be talked into a manicure,// Jono allowed, though warily. //We'll see.//

He suspected he'd probably get a thump if he went for the black nails again for the wedding.

Actually, Hannibal might suggest it, if it made Jono more susceptible.

"We have time to consider that," Hannibal said. Time for him to convince Jono.

[furnaceface]

//We do,// Jono agreed. //Hell, we still need to set a date.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"We do. We need to find someone to officiate first; we may have to work around their schedule. At least we won't have to schedule the venue."

[furnaceface]

//That does make it easier. Did you get any takers on the internet board thing you posted?//

Jono might have to start pestering people, at this rate.

At least he was good at pestering.

[sharp_as_knives]

"Only Emma's offer of jewelers." Hannibal frowned. "We could hire someone from the mainland, but I would worry about their ability to cope with the island."

[furnaceface]

//There are days when I worry about our ability to cope with the island,// Jono agreed. //And we'd have to be selective about what reality we pick somebody from, anyway. I'd like to be able to talk to our officiant through the day without wearing myself down, after all.//

[sharp_as_knives]

Hannibal nodded in agreement. "We'll find someone."

[furnaceface]

//If I have to throw Logan in front of an altar and remind him he owes me, we'll find someone,// Jono replied, nodding. //Shouldn't be too difficult, I'll start looking for somebody qualified, too.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"Logan?" Hannibal raised an eyebrow, then asked completely deadpan, "Then who will give you away?"

[furnaceface]

Please excuse Jono for a moment, Hannibal, while he leans forward to bury his face in his knees. He just has to die for a few seconds, here.

//Emma,// he said, once he got his bearings and surfaced again. //Both of them.//

God save them all.

[sharp_as_knives]

"Two Emmas?" Hannibal asked. "That would be very striking."

God help the entire island.

[furnaceface]

//Either they would take over the island or they'd kill one another,// Jono noted, amused. //I don't think there'd be much of a middle ground, there.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"We could have one of them give away each of us," Hannibal suggested. "Matching bridal parties."
