Hannibal slept even less than Jono these days, but that didn't stop him from lying in bed and enjoying the closeness and occasionally drifting off. When he woke again and stretched, it was still early; he decided to increase his chances of waking Jono up by wandering down to make coffee.

There were odd differences in the decor of the house that he couldn't quite place - what had Fandom been doing today? But it wasn't enough to bother him until he headed back upstairs with the tray. And stopped short at the top. "Beethoven?" He knelt carefully and held his hand out to the old cat, who sniffed it a little suspiciously before turning around and heading to the bedroom.

By the time Hannibal set the coffee service down on the nightstand, Beethoven was curled at the foot of the bed and Hannibal was running confused possibilities through his head.

Really, Jono didn't need to be told about that. He knew all about how annoying they could be.

"... That sounds beautiful," he admitted. "It's been a while since I've been to a reality like that. I'd forgotten they existed."

"Not France," Jono decided, a beat too quickly. "But I'm not ruling out the private island. Careful, though. I like it too much, and I'll end up buying one."

"Just imagine," Jono mused, "how many more kids we could fit on a private island..."

Sorry, Hannibal. This was your life now.

"We could just make that portion of the island as unwelcoming to children as possible," Jono countered. "Classical music at all hours, a 'you must eat this much spinach before entering' rule. Maybe even a chore list. We wouldn't want to make it seem forbidden, just unappealing."

A little oasis of adulthood, where only the brave or the well-behaved could enter.

"Bloody hell, Chris," Jono muttered. "He's going to take after you, you know."

This wasn't actually a bad thing. In most regards, anyway.

"But if we make the chores obnoxious enough, that might just do the trick. Start with dishes, cutting the grass, taking out the garbage..."

Which would be a hell of a job, on a private island.

"It's in fashion again," Jono laughed, shrugging his shoulders. "Give him a few years, and he'll look back and wonder what the hell he'd been thinking. In the meantime, good luck getting him to keep his good clothing in one piece too, if he ends up training more with any of them."

Oh, dammit, Hannibal. Now you had Jono making stupid faces.

"But I haven't worn clothing with holes in it in years."

Mostly because, shockingly, those clothes kept vanishing from his drawers.

"Well, there were those jeans. But I bought them that way!"

Jono's own vehement insistence that the mullet was the greatest mistake he'd ever made in life had probably helped with that.

"The kilt was Lee's idea!"

Jono was never letting that go. Ever. It was something he could point at and blame somebody else for. There wasn't much of that in his life, when it came to terrible choices.

"And I made it look good," Jono muttered. "That doesn't mean I'm going to endorse it."

... Well, okay, if it made the kids happy, he totally would.

"Or into yours?" Jono smirked and leaned into that kiss. "That wouldn't be so bad, I suppose. At the end the day, they could all be turning out far worse."

"They must," Jono replied, smirking a little and turning around to nuzzle his face into the crook of Hannibal's neck. "People keep actually trusting us with them."

And they kept turning out okay. Jono was so bloody proud of the lot of them.

"I see nothing the matter with that."

Breakfast was getting cold. That wasn't stopping Jonothon from nibbling right there, though. Because hi, good morning, there weren't any kids at home, and the cats could only judge them so much.

Well, coffee was the most important part of breakfast.

Or maybe Hannibal was the most important part of breakfast? Either way, Jono was absolutely letting Hannibal nudge him back toward the bed, leaning his head back to give Hannibal better access to his throat as he raised his hands to grab at Hannibal's hair.

Trust. Complete trust.
