Invitations had gone out handwavily on the school and town's bulletin boards, both electronic and physical, that a belated post-pollen relaxation and last-day-of-break dinner party was being held at Hannibal's house and everybody was invited.

Of course, that meant Hannibal had had to come home and go immediately into a frenzy of cooking and preparing, but honestly - you relax your way, and he'd relax his.

[OOC: Dinner party! Everybody's invited, but wait for the OCD, please. OCD up!]

As Dr Lecter had warned her of Mr Starmore's... condition, Lucille wasn't surprised, but it still took some time getting used to. She would not comment on it or stare, obviously, so she approached him, smiling slightly.

"Good evening," she greeted. "A pleasure to meet you again."

//Ah-- Hello again,// Jono replied, looking up and nodding to Lucille. Yes, he was a bit impressed that she wasn't thrown by his outward appearance so obviously, even if he did suppose Hannibal had given her some warning, at the very least. //Good to see you could make it, luv. How're you tonight?//

"Quite well, thank you." Perhaps his appearance affected her conversation just a little, because Lucille faltered for a moment before continuing: "May I ask: Are you English by any chance? Or perhaps from another world? Or a world which includes an England?"

Those kind of questions were complicated here. Also, were accents you heard in your head reliable?

It was alright, Lucille. Jono was used to far worse reactions than a little bit of faltering.

He did, at least, attempt a smile. Something that settled in around the corners of his eyes, if nothing else. It was meant to look friendly!

//London, as a matter of fact,// he confirmed, pleasantly. //Born and raised in Leyton. Yourself?//

"Cumberland," she said. "I have never visited London myself. My family's home is remote, and we did little traveling."

Was that a smile? Lucille wasn't entirely sure, but smiled back all the same. Perhaps there was some uneasiness, though more about the telepathy than the fire. Dr Lecter had assured her that Mr Starmore would not try to read her thoughts. She hoped not, as that was what she was thinking of right now.

Even if he had been, he wouldn't have mentioned it. It was a perfectly valid concern around many telepaths. Some had... rather flexible morals.

//Nothing the matter with remote, either,// Jono decided, shrugging his shoulders a little. //Home's home, so long as it's what feels right. Mind if I ask, just how time-tossed you were? Fandom's jarring enough without having to adjust to modern times on top of that.//

... Unless she just really liked old fashions. Also a possibility, here.

"I left England in 1885." Lucille added with a small laugh: "Even making tea proved difficult the first day."

//Oh, lord, I can't imagine,// Jono replied, a chuckle in his voice. //I was only twenty years out of sync with my own timeline, and even then, I kept getting tripped up by little things. Just modern enough that everyone expects me to be computer savvy.//

He could use Google! That was a marked improvement on where he used to be!

"I have stayed away from computers," Lucille said. "I have been told the telephone is in fact a small computer, but after that day when strange messaged were left on it, I mostly avoid it too."

Why bother with modern technology?

Well, even Jono had to admit that it was sometimes useful. Sometimes.

//I don't much blame you,// he replied. //The phone messages getting all muddled up is something that happens at least once a year around here, though you do generally learn to spot it quickly if you've been here a while. It's one of the island's lesser annoyances.//

She gave a small nod. "After a while that seemed like the only logical explanation."
