Thanksgiving Dinner

With as much prep done as possible the day before, Hannibal...was still up plenty early, due to both inclination and all the food still left to cook. He believed in doing everything right, and he also believed that the host should not spend their entire party in the kitchen.

So, with Sparkle's help, by early afternoon everything was done and being kept warm or cold, only the final just-before-plating flourishes left, and he was relaxing with a nice glass of mulled wine, ready for the guests.

Well, it was perfectly understandable, Hannibal supposed.

"Soda it will be, then. This is primarily mint and basil, with a few others to complement the flavor." He poured her one.

"Thank you," Elsa said, taking the soda with a small nod and carefully sampling it. The bubbles tickled her nose, and there was an interesting coolness to go with the mint. It really called for a second sip, just to wrap her head around it. "Oh, I like this!"

It was definitely better than a lot of those brown sodas that came in plastic bottles.

"I'll have to give you the recipe; it's really quite simple." Hannibal smiled. "Sodas are very popular these days, particularly with young people, but as with most things, I prefer to make my own."
