Hannibal's house (where he and Jono are still adult), Sunday

There were small children around, some of whom Hannibal was fairly invested in, and so there was a large breakfast being made.

And the windows and back door were open despite the chill, the smell of bacon and crepes and waffles calculated to attract any stragglers who might need it. Adults or children, either - there were mimosas and coffee available, too.

Hannibal had a bit of light Classical music playing, and was humming as he worked.

Sparkle was supposed to be at work today! Not that Sparkle knew that he was supposed to be at work today. Poor Milady would have to wait until tomorrow to get fed, at that, but at least bettas were hardy enough to handle a weekend without.

Today, Sparkle was less 'at work,' and more 'cautiously peering into the kitchen, clinging to an actual kitty instead of his plush cat.' Because there were actual kitties, here. Actual, for real kitties, and the little black one was affectionate and his new best friend.

He didn't dare speak up, but he was paying rapt attention to the food as Hannibal worked. There was so much of it!

Joni was everybody's best friend. A small child who wanted to cuddle her? Definitely!

Hannibal glanced over at them both and gave Sparkle a smile and a wink. "Good morning. Would you like to feed Joni while I make your breakfast?"

Joni knew the 'feed' word quite well, and was already mewing and purring in reply. She liked that word! Yes please!

Sparkle blinked, and then nodded a little, almost shyly.

"I don't know how."

But he wanted to. He wasn't going to say no.

"It isn't difficult," Hannibal promised. He went to the refrigerator and got down the cat food, since it was too high up for Sparkle to reach.

"Do you see the dishes over there?" he pointed.

Sparkle nodded a little, setting Joni down so that he could take the food from Hannibal. Immediately she started to wind around the nearest set of ankles.

"I see them," he replied, resisting the urge to reach down and pet her. This was a very serious duty he had been given, clearly.

Bacon! Waffles! Lucille only wished she had been able to find Thomas.

"Dr Lecter," she said. "Forgive me, but may I later take a few leftovers with me for my brother? I haven't found him, and I'm sure he will be starving."

"Of course you may." Hannibal doubted she'd find him, but he knew better than to say as much. "I will even pack it up for you. And you're both welcome to return."

"Thank you." Lucille curtsied. "The food looks quite delicious." She said it like it was a phrase learn from a book, but she truly meant it. It was... hard to know where to begin.

"Thank you," Hannibal said. "I hope it tastes every bit as good." He plated a waffle with some nuts and berries, and set bacon next to it, sliding the plate onto the table. "Would you care for some juice as well?"

Lucille just looked at the waffle for a moment, before slipping on to the chair. She had never before seen such a wonderful breakfast. If only Thomas was here! Then, remembering the question, she looked up at Hannibal.

"Yes, please Dr Lecter. I would like that very much."

It seemed like it had been forever since Raven had been to Fandom. She'd kept herself so busy in Glacia that there never seemed to be a good time -- until Karla ordered her to take some time to herself. So she'd decided to pay a visit to the island, and interpreted "time to herself" to mean that of course she had to bring along a small horde of the children in her care.

Upon arriving in Fandom she sensed they might have playmates abound, since it seemed to be one of those weekends. She set about checking on people to see if they were themselves or if they were in need of someone to make sure they went to bed at a reasonable hour and were eating something other than candy and cake.

Hannibal's house was one of her first stops. Wee tiny children in tow, she knocked on the door.

Hey, Raven! How did you feel about a certain mutant coming to meet you at the door? Because shut up, he kind of missed you, but also because he could sense the gaggle of children you had with you.

//Your 'Hannibal is cooking for a small army' sense is impeccable,// he teased in greeting. //Hello, luv. Good weekend to bring the kids around.//

"Perhaps Karla knew what was going on here when she 'suggested' I take a day off," Raven said lightly. "But it is good to see that you are not in need of a babysitter, nor Doctor Lecter, I suspect, if he is cooking."

She glanced down to the children clustered around her, each with expressions ranging from "who is this person?" to "what is that delicious smell?" "These are Maja, Torben, Linn, and Ryan," she said, introducing each in turn: a darker haired girl of seven, a wee boy with reddish blond hair, a blonde girl with an adorable smile, and a mischievous-looking blond toddler. "Children, this is my friend Jono, though you may have heard of him as General Starsmore."

She gave Jono a soft smile. "It is good to see you, Jonothon," she said. "I hope you have been well."

//Aaah, with the General thing,// Jono halfheartedly complained, crouching down to say hello with a nod to each child in turn. //Good t'meet you, Maja, Torben, Linn, Ryan. Welcome to our home. There are a few more children than usual around here today, and a couple of cats. I bet they'd like to meet you.//

Oh god, they were cute. Jono would ask where Raven found such cute kids, but he knew full well, and the answer would only inevitably break his heart.

He straightened up again to smile back at Raven, an expression in his eyes that was open and friendly and... still more than a little tired. He'd been taking current events in the real world badly, but having children around helped.

//I've been well enough, at least. Still standing, so I haven't got too much room to complain. Yourself?//

Raven wasn't up on Earth recent events and probably wouldn't want to be once she was. Glacian politics were quite enough for her to deal with, thank you very much, at least when she couldn't hide in time from Karla and got dragged against her will to another meeting.

But the General thing would go on until the end of time, Jono. Count on it.

"I have been well," she said. "Having children has brightened my world in ways I cannot possibly describe. They are such a joy to me."

"Not when Ryan smeared jelly all over the walls," Maja giggled.

"Pretty for Mama!" Ryan protested. Truly, it had been a work of art.

Hannibal couldn't hear who was at the door, but he could hear someone, and sent a query to Jono about how many plates he might need.

//Five,// Jono sent back helpfully. //And when you get a moment, come out and say hello. Raven's here and she's brought a small army.//

Emphasis on small. There was a toddler among them.

Listening to Jono, Hannibal set out five more plates, then made sure the food could be left for a moment and came to the door. "Raven. It's been far too long." He held out his hands to her. "Please, all of you, come in. Breakfast is waiting."

Twice as long for her, though time seemed to fly regardless of whether it was Fandom time or Glacia time.

"Yes, it has," she agreed, stepping forward. "But I am very glad that you have made enough food for five unexpected guests." She smiled down at the children. "Linn, Ryan, Torben, Maja, you are in for a treat. Doctor Lecter is an excellent cook, but mind your manners while we are here."

Hannibal greeted them each with a nod. "I always make plenty for any number of small mouths on these weekends," he said. "When I'm old enough to cook myself, that is."

He smiled and led them in. "Can I get you some coffee?"

"Tea, please, if you have it, otherwise coffee will be fine, thank you," Raven said.

"How have you been? I am sorry I was not there for any of your ceremonies."

[furnaceface]

//Oh god, bacon.// Yes, yes of course Jono was peering into the kitchen. //You had to make bacon, didn't you?//

He was going to be over here, missing bacon, even though he knew entirely well that he was going to get to taste it vicariously through Hannibal anyway. Don't mind Jono.

"It's an important part of breakfast," Hannibal said, grinning. He picked up a tiny piece and popped it in his mouth.

And there was Jono, kind of propping himself up against the doorway. Bacon was cheating. That was a well established rule by now.

He also was not complaining.

//Most important part of breakfast,// he agreed. //Lord yes.//

Everything was cheating. Especially when Hannibal did it.

"There are also strawberries for the crepes," he said, smirking. "But I thought I might save those until tomorrow."
