Hannibal's house (which should be Jono's by now but isn't), Friday evening

Hannibal had been, unsurprisingly for those who had been at the wedding, rather annoyed recently. He suspected his sudden attack of snake earlier this week had been the island's way of giving him a vacation.

Or of keeping him here and not out hunting quite so much. Though that did little to explain Jono's transformation. Or maybe it did.

Whatever the reason, he had now been himself again for most of a day, and he was feeling much more relaxed.

It helped that he was in his kitchen, working on a simple veal saltimbocca and listening to some lovely music.

Hannibal gave him a slightly exasperated look for that. "We'll hope to appeal to the island's sense of romance and not be interrupted."

"Right! Romance! That's a thing, too!" Sparkle snapped his fingers in some kind of brilliant realization. "Maybe it'll just give you, like, confetti rain outside or something, instead. That's not so bad, right?"

Sparkle, shut up.

"Please attempt not to give it ideas," Hannibal said a bit pointedly. "Although no, confetti rain would not be terrible."

Maybe if he agreed to one of the more innocuous ideas, the island wouldn't get more creative. And neither would Sparkle.

"Right, sorry," Sparkle said, and at least he had the good grace to look sheepish about it. "Maybe I'll just say I'm hoping for the best and leave it there. That seems safest."

"Very likely," Hannibal agreed. "Is there anything you'd like taken care of while you're out?" he asked.

Sparkle chewed the inside of his cheek for a moment.

"I have a few houseplants," he offered. "If you don't mind making sure they get watered? One's even a cactus, it doesn't need water all that much."

Sparkle... had no damn clue what to do about the giant thing that he'd noticed in Atton's room that one time. Hell, he didn't even know if it was still there. But Pauline and Francesco would be easy enough to carry down the street, at least.

"Of course not," Hannibal said. "If you'll give me a key, I'll see to them."

There was no sense in carrying them around the island. And it wasn't like Hannibal was going to steal anything. Though it was entirely possible he might poke around. And possibly suggest more furniture when Sparkle returned.

"It's kind of the only key I have," Sparkle said, frowning a little. "I mean, I can just break into my own apartment, sure, but if I come back during your honeymoon or something, I'm kind of out of luck unless I do."

Then there was the whole other unspoken thing, where Sparkle knew Atton didn't trust Hannibal as far as he could throw him, and probably wouldn't want him poking around the place while nobody was home. Sparkle... wasn't going to mention that bit.

"I guess I could just leave the plants out on the balcony and let the rain take care of them," he noted, a little fidgety.

"There's no need for that," Hannibal said. He was nosy, but he knew when not to push. "What did you have in mind, then; did you want to bring them by, or leave them outside for me?"

"I could probably just bring them by on my way to catch my portal," Sparkle offered. "It's warm enough now, you could probably even leave them outside. Um. I mean. Unless the island goes somewhere cold. I guess that'd be bad."

A smidgen, yes. Especially for the cactus.

[sharp_as_knives]

"I'll keep an eye out for them," Hannibal said. "They can stay on the covered porch so long as the weather permits; they'll be safer from the cats there."

At that, Sparkle gave Hannibal a relieved smile. One less thing to worry about. It was probably fortunate that he didn't have a pet, these days.

"Thank you, Doctor," he murmured, ducking his head a little. "You're a lifesaver."

... Eh, close enough.

If Hannibal's smile was a bit amused, he could probably be forgiven that.

Or at least more that than other things.

"You're quite welcome." Hannibal nodded back. "Please let me know if there's anything else I can do. And please, be careful."

"Keeping my head down and not doing anything outside of the temple more dangerous than going to the market for spices is pretty much the plan unless something comes up," Sparkle promised. "I know better than to be anything but careful when I visit Coruscant. Especially when Atton's missing."

Hannibal nodded, satisfied. "More beer?"

[myownface]

"Please," Sparkle replied, giving Hannibal a little smile. "And this veal is awesome. Thanks for the meal."

He sure as hell hadn't been in a state of mind to cook, earlier. Getting all of this off of his chest had helped.

"Thank you for letting me feed you," Hannibal said with a grin as he poured. "You know I always enjoy having you over."
