Post-Parents' Weekend destresser, Monday evening

Hannibal and Jono had both sent out e-mail to everyone they knew on the island, as well as posted in the school's boards, and everybody was invited. After this weekend, some of them seemed like they would need it.

Hannibal had a very well-stocked bar and wine cellar, there were darts and billiards and a card table downstairs as well as a media room, a music room and library on the first floor, outside decks on both if you didn't mind the flamingos, and of course, food.

Chocolate orange mousse, spiced fruit brioche and yoghurt sorbet
Raspberry sorbet

Kaylin was absolutely sure to be there. For the food. Just the food.

Certainly not because she felt safe with Hannibal and Jono. And definitely not to see if Hannibal would let something slip about his meeting with Teela.

And Hannibal would be certain to welcome her because she probably needed the food, and not at all because he was fond of her.

"Kaylin, come in." He waved her toward the food with a smile. "How have you been?"

"Teela came to see me," she blurted out. "She has to make a report back to the Hawklord. If he doesn't like it I'm might never be a Hawk!"

Food would have to wait for a moment.

Jono was... still chasing the cat around the house. Joni was fascinated with the prospect of slipping out through the door, even though she'd probably get as far as the flamingos before doubling back to cry to be let back in again, like usual.

"What are you doing?" she asked, totally distracted by Jono and the cat and whatever was going on.

Alluka didn't know if she was allowed to be at the party, since she hadn't had anyone show up for her over the weekend, which made her feel pretty funny and twisted up inside somehow, but she showed up anyway.

Though she did happen to be looking big-eyed and concerned that someone would tell her to go as she did so.

Hannibal made sure to give her an especially gentle and friendly smile. "Welcome, Alluka. I'm pleased you could make it. Please, come in."

"Thank you," she said, as her bunny nodded in agreement, and they both entered as told. "Is it okay that I didn't have anyone visit?"

His smile was terribly reassuring, but Alluka wanted to know for sure.

"Of course!" Hannibal reassured her. "Not having people can also be terribly stressful. And even if it isn't, you can brighten the day of others who need it. Would you like some food? And I can make you a soda or hot chocolate, if you like."

Chase Alluka out at the door? Jono? Never. Just because he was running laps around the front room trying to keep Joni from slipping outside whenever the door was open didn't mean he didn't have time for one of his favourite people. Especially when she was looking like that.

She was the babiest of girls, it was true.

"Jono!" Alluka said happily, brightening up and flinging herself at him for a hug.

There was your hug, Jono. Incoming!

Yesss! Hug attained, and Jono was going to pick her up and do a little spin (mindful of the cat and the furniture) for good measure.

Didi didn't always come to Hannibal and Jono's parties, but she figured after her father's visit, anything that had her around people and out of her own head was good. She arrived more or less on time, clad in the usual black, and carrying a bottle of decent brandy.

Hannibal smiled as he let her in. "I'm pleased you could make it. I confess it was Jono mentioning your guest that was this party's impetus. How are you doing?"

"Oh, did he make my dad sound so bad I was going to need a party to get over seeing him?" Didi asked, laughing a little. "It was a long weekend, but I'm fine. Happy to be here. The house smells amazing, as usual."

"Awww, hi, Joni," Didi said, reaching down to scruff the cat's forehead. "I did. And thanks for being so nice with my dad. I know he can be a little..."

That sentence ended in a very expressive eyeroll.

But really, good luck sneaking in with Jono here. Or Joni, who was still making the occasional bid for the door every time it opened.

Lord only knew what she would do if she made it that far, really. Probably get it in her head that she could take on a flamingo or something. Either way, Jono was on cat duty, and showed no signs of giving in and locking her in a room somewhere else like a sane person might.

Stubborn, that Jono.
