Hannibal's house (where Jono just stays sometimes), Saturday night

After a lovely dinner and a conversation that involved a lot of boggling on Jono's behalf and bemusement on Hannibal's, Hannibal had thrown up his metaphoric hands and made some very good popcorn.

They were now downstairs in the media room, ensconced comfortably on the sofa and trying to keep the cats out of said popcorn.

"I fail to see why it's so scandalous," Hannibal said, shaking his head. "It isn't as though I don't know what it is; I'm hardly blind to popular culture. It simply isn't something I've felt the need to watch."



[For the one mentioned! But texts or calls or whatever, why not?]

Hannibal shrugged. "They didn't get blown up." They were probably having a better day than anyone else on their ship.

... True enough. But they were still on Meta!Tatooine.

//I suppose in a film like this, any day you don't get blown up is a good day...//

It really was.

"Whereas ideally, a good day would involve significantly more actual good." Hannibal grinned at Jono and ate a bit of popcorn.

And gave Beethoven an eye when he reached up as if to bat at it.

//You would think so,// Jono agreed. //Of course, this series has 'Battles' right in the name, so obviously there's a bit of strife at play.//

obviously.

//Still, it isn't all doom and gloom. Just if you're that shiny one there. Or the whiny lad with the terrible hair.//

Hannibal chuckled. "I wouldn't say his hair is terrible, merely dated. Though I will concede the whiny. How old is he meant to be?"

[furnaceface]

//... Nineteen or twenty, I think. I'm not so invested in this series that I've read every bit of extended canon for it, but that sounds about right to me, at any rate.//

Jono shrugged his shoulders.

//And I'm not too proud to say that some of the hairstyles I've had were horrid in retrospect. 'What were people thinking,' and all that. I was a teenager in the nineties, you know.//

Along with everything that entailed.

"I look forward to seeing those pictures." Hannibal smirked.

[furnaceface]

//...There might have been a rock-and-roll mullet.//

//Which was not my proudest moment, no.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"What makes a mullet particularly rock-and-roll?" Hannibal asked.

[furnaceface]

//In theory, the amount of sex and drugs that might be involved at the time,// Jono replied. //In actuality...? Delusions of grandeur and the number of glamour shots that were taken with that mullet while posing with a guitar next to a microphone.//

A beat.

//Plus I still had all my teeth at the time, so I clearly wasn't wearing a hockey mullet.//

Important distinction.

So if he got one again, it would be a hockey mullet?

"Ah, this was before your crimefighting stint, then." Hannibal grinned. "I wondered if it had gone with the kilt."

'Which one?' was a reply that Jono nearly gave, but managed to stop himself from.

He kept finding himself in kilts. Which made little sense, considering the whole 'born and raised in Leyton, London' thing.

//Not long before, but before,// Jono confirmed. //And we don't talk about the kilt when we can avoid it.//

"Like meta for Macbeth?" Hannibal asked, somewhat gleefully.

[furnaceface]

//Right,// Jono agreed, //only instead of tiptoeing around the Scottish Play whenever you set foot in a theatre, we just never mention a kilt to me, ever. It's terrible luck. No good at all.//

He wished.

[sharp_as_knives]

"I shall keep that in mind," Hannibal answered gravely.

He probably wouldn't do it, but he'd keep it in mind.

Well, for what it was worth, Jono could probably rock a kilt these days.

... Better than he had in his teenage years, anyway.

//I appreciate that.//

And then he was leaning forward to peel Joni away from the popcorn.

Hannibal would have no objections to Jono wearing a stylish kilt. Particularly if it were plaid.

He shook his head at Joni and eyed Beethoven's paw on his arm. "You would think they might prefer the meat in the food I put out for them before we came down here."
