Hannibal's house (and totally not Jono's), Sunday

Yesterday had been reasonably quiet at home, but on these weekends, there was no telling how things would end up. So, once again, Hannibal had fixed enough food to almost-prepared for an army and enough coffee for three, and was spending as much quiet time as he could at the harpsichord.

The brass plaque at the gate announcing his office and qualifications was nicely polished, the flamingos scattered on the lawn had been sufficiently fed not to unduly bother any visitors, and everything was hopefully going to stay interesting without being too harrowing.

One could always hope.

Zack pondered that answer over a forkful of omelette.

... AMAZING omelette.

"I..." He pursed his lips a little. "Oh, this is nice."

Zack. Focus.

"I mean, um. How much are you... willing to listen to, Doctor?"

Zack, that was a silly question.

"Thank you. And as much as you'd like to say." Hannibal spread his hands. "I am both a professional listener, and insatiably curious by nature."

Zack took another few moments to eat, closing his eyes and just savouring the food in his mouth.

Accepting the offer for food had been a smart move, apparently.

"There's a lot to say, then. I guess I would need to figure out where to start. The beginning is a long way back, and I don't... don't completely know if that's what's even eating at me, these days." He set down his fork and sighed. "Everything is a tangled mess, and I don't really have the means to untangle it. I used to think I did, but as it turns out, I was more ambitious than right."

"Start with the small tangles," Hannibal suggested. "Tease out the ends."

That... actually seemed like a doable plan of attack, and Zack pursed his lips for a few seconds while he considered his options in that regard.

"When we lived on Fandom before, there were other people here from my world. From, er... from different points in my world's timeline. All of them were in my future, somewhere."

Seemed like as good a starting point as any.
