Hannibal's office, Sunday morning

Hannibal had really just intended a quick stop by the office to check on his herbs, and maybe seeing if the hotel owner were in to discuss renting the party room.

The first flash of something outside the window had him turning to it, confused and interested. Was there something odd going on here, again? And would anybody know what it was this time?

The second shark that flew by...

He eyed his umbrella and wondered if it had ever been assessed as to weight limit.

The third shark that flew by had a Batman riding it. And that very same Batman had fired a grapple at the school building in order to create a pendulum effect, swinging the shark face first into the wall of the school building, knocking it out as it dropped to the ground.

Batman, however, pulled himself up on the window ledge and knocked on the glass. He could absolutely let himself in, but he thought he'd be relatively polite to his teaching buddy.

It was a good thing the school walls were solid.

Hannibal moved his herbs carefully to one side and unlatched the window, then stepped aside and waved Batman in. "I see your skills are coming in handy."

"This is something I've trained for. More or less," Batman said, stepping inside like this was all perfectly normal. "I didn't see the tornado being part of it."

Without looking, he threw a batarang out the open window behind him. After spinning in the wind for a few seconds, it hit another shark right in the nose.

"Should I bother to ask how this is happening, or is it simply one of those things that happens here?" He closed the window and set the herbs back where they belonged.

As a good host, what did you offer a man dressed as a bat that would probably want to go back out and fight flying sharks? "Would you care for some coffee?"

"No, thanks," Batman said. "And this is just something that happens. It should be over by tomorrow. Tuesday at the latest, unless the sharks reveal themselves to be working for a larger shark mastermind. Then it might take all week."

"Do we have reason to fear a shark mastermind?" Hannibal shrugged his jacket back on, picked his umbrella up, and grabbed the scalpel off his desk. A rifle would have been better.

"By the way, do you happen to know what the school policy on firearms is? I'm beginning to think I should stay better prepared."

"No particular reason. But stranger things have happened," Batman said. "And you don't want to bring a gun here."

It wasn't a school policy Batman was concerned with. It was his own policy.

That sounded more like an order than a suggestion. Hannibal raised an eyebrow, but didn't question it. It wasn't as if he had one at the moment anyway.

"I've seen stranger things happen already," he agreed instead. "But since I have no reason to stay here at the moment, I think I will leave you to it and return to Baltimore." He spread his hands in a gesture of helplessness. "I doubt you need me to psychoanalyze these sharks, and cooking them will have to wait till later."

"In the meantime..." Batman said, giving a small nod before running back toward the window and jumping out just in time to kick another shark that had gone flying past.

It was probably safe to assume that Batman would get to the ground safely.

Hannibal sighed, closed the window firmly, and set his herbs upright once again, making sure they weren't damaged.

Vigilantes had no respect. He locked his door and headed out by more conventional means, mentally reviewing what recipes he had for shark.
