Audric had slipped in quietly with Collin. He had tried to explain to his 'siblings' that he thought they truly ought to knock, but then Kayla had ignored him and flounced in and then Collin had sighed, grabbed Audric's hand and followed her, and now Audric stood close to the door, watching the chaos unfold and really wishing he were home right now, where things were quieter and made far more sense.
If they hadn't also worn Jewels and carried some of Mother's psychic scent, Audric would have assumed the boy was lying about their relation. Whoever their father was must be a terrible parent, if that was how they turned out.
He had almost decided to slip away and try to find his parents on his own, when Kayla's ear-piercing shriek of 'Unca Hanni!' caught his attention. Father! Thank the Darkness.
