Office Hours, Thursday

Hannibal hadn't been planning on coming in to his office on the island until the afternoon.

Just until he woke up to a hat and eyepatch that wouldn't go away, and cursed a lot more like a sailor than usual.

So now he was in his office, working on classes and listening to the only opera his stereo would play today.

At least his getup matched his mood.

Drac wasn't a teacher anymore, but he still knew his way around when he chose to visit a friend, so...

*knock*knock*

"Hello? Doctor Lecter? Are you accepting non-student visitors today?"

"I'm accepting any visitors able to distract me from this damn headgear," Hannibal answered. The hat wasn't actually bad as hats went, but the feather was driving him crazy. And the eyepatch was making reading difficult. "One moment; let me close the drapes."

He pulled the heavy drapes closed and opened the door. "Good afternoon, Count. How have you been?" he asked as civilly as he could.

Drac had better not laugh. There might be disparaging remarks made about his cape in return.

Drac swept in and took a seat. "I am doing very well, thank you. I have managed to avoid any hats or eye patches, thank goodness. I do assume they are not voluntary?"

The count was not speaking pirate, no. He was, however, a little bit twitchy, so please pardon him for looking slightly sideways every once in a while? He wasn't trying to be rude.

"They are not," Hannibal agreed. He wasn't speaking in pirate anymore, either. He'd refused, a bird had arrived to translate for him, and he'd decided that was the height of rudeness. Unlike the hat and eyepatch, no others had materialized. "It's making it damnably difficult to get any reading done."

"I have heard that depth perception is a good thing in that respect, y- -," Drac's joking tone was cut off with a small gulp as he heard the sound of flapping wings come down the hallway.

"Braaaaawk! Fergawtcher hat, Cap'n!" A large black bird flew into the office and deposited a large tricorn pirate hat on Drac's head before settling on the vampire's shoulder. "Brawwwwk!"



"... I thought I'd lost you in the tunnels."

The bird lifted slightly and fluffed its wings. "Braaawk! Never abandon the cap'n."

"... Count."

Hannibal winced. "If you'd like, Count, I have some very sharp knives," he said in the bird's direction.

That caused quite a fluttering!

"Braawk! Mutiny mutiny! Man the cannons! Walk the plank!" Drac winced slightly as the bird's claws tightened on his shoulder. "Hang 'im from the yardarm!"

Hannibal shared a look with Dracula. "That parrot seems rather insubordinate, wouldn't you say? Maybe there is mutiny in the air."

"He and the hat appeared early this morning. I don't know who it is he thinks I am."



"Yer th' Cap'n, Cap'n." Apparently it was an obvious statement, since the bird was now chewing his foot.

"It's count!" Drac growled. "And I haven't been on a boat in decades; I'm not your captain."

"Th' Cap'n is th' Cap'n, the ship is the lady! Pillage the landlubbers! Braawk."

"Since he apparently thinks you're his captain, he'll have to do anything you say or be...keelhauled, is it? So, perhaps if you order him to be quiet..." Hannibal suggested.
