Invitations had gone out handwavily on the school and town's bulletin boards, both electronic and physical, that a belated post-pollen relaxation and last-day-of-break dinner party was being held at Hannibal's house and everybody was invited.

Of course, that meant Hannibal had had to come home and go immediately into a frenzy of cooking and preparing, but honestly - you relax your way, and he'd relax his.

[OOC: Dinner party! Everybody's invited, but wait for the OCD, please. OCD up!]

There was a music room. Not that Lucille was surprised, considering her conversation with Dr Lecter and Mr Starmore in Cyreal. Still, it was lovely, and Lucille decided she would ask if she could play.

Lucille smiled back. "I suppose it's not surprising, considering our conversation during the trip. A beautiful instrument." She nodded towards the hapsicord which I assume is here.

"No, I haven't." She ran her fingers over the keys, then gave Hannibal a hopeful look. "May I?"

And the mun is excited about the theremin.

Lucille tool a seat and tried a melody from a fugue by Bach with one hand -- a suitable choice of music for such an instrument, she thought. Dr Lecter was right; it was different from the piano and her fingers weren't used to it. The sound, however, was beautiful. She added a few chords.

At first Lucille aimed for precision in timing, but being unused to the harpsichord that quickly became a struggle, so she went for intensity. Again, the instrument was different from the piano, and the nuances she was used to felt flat. She frowned a little, then tried giving more freedom to the rhythm of the piece, making sure that the intervals that she felt needed to be emphasized rang a little longer. It was a challenge, but one she enjoyed, and she almost forgot that Dr Lecter was listening. At the final note the expression on her face was fierce rather than pleased.

"It's a beautiful instrument," Lucille said. "Different from the piano, and deceptively similar." She hesitated for a moment, then asked: "Would you consider teaching me?"

It would probably affect the piano practice she had made the habit of doing in the rec room, but she didn't mind.

Lucille smiled back, quite genuinely. "Thank you."
