Hannibal's house, Friday evening (with hints of the past)

The day had been decidedly long, and Hannibal was glad to finally make his way, avoiding any untoward encounters, back home. And, since Jono wasn't home yet, have a leisurely dinner of the sort he wasn't sharing with anyone these days.

[OOC: For the guy who can't duck a pitchfork!]

"Somehow," Hannibal agreed. He murmured in Jono's ear. "You're also going to have to fix these holes. I'll help."

Sorry, Jono; there was a price to being the best.

Now would have been terrible timing for an 'has anybody told you lately that you're terrible' quip, so Jono was selling for cracking open one eye and giving Hannibal a stinkeye instead.

//Brat,// he mumbled. He'd much rather sleep, but sleep wasn't really in the cards anyway.

Hannibal kissed the corner of that eye. "Unless you want me reaching into you to close them from the inside as well?" he pointed out.

[furnaceface]

That... sounded unpleasant.

//You wouldn't be able to see what you're doing in there anyway,// Jono muttered, closing his eye again and shaking his head. //I'll give it a try, give it a start, at least, but if I get too tired, I'm stopping. I'd rather be injured and awake until this situation is resolved than healed up neatly but out cold while the island is under attack.//

"Of course," Hannibal agreed. "Only as much as you can. I can stitch the outside. At the same time as you work, if the imagery would help rather than distract."

[furnaceface]

//It'd definitely keep my attention on what's going on back there, should some other bloody vision show up and attempt to drive me spare midway,// he noted. //If it's a distraction, I'll just let you finish and then get back to it.//

He didn't figure he was going to get terribly far, himself. But he'd give it a go, anyway. The less wounded he was for all this, the better.

Hannibal nodded. "Best we do that on dry land, however. We can relax here first, as long as you like."

[furnaceface]

Jono was cracking open one eye again, but this time it was in vague amusement.

//I'm liable to just try to stay in here forever,// he noted. //And then you'll be trapped underneath me, marinating in my bloody bathwater until the end of time.//

What a way to go...?

"It would make a terrible marinade," Hannibal answered. "No spices or acids."

After a beat, he added, "Also, it will probably be cold shortly."

[furnaceface]

//You'd still get wrinkly toes either way,// Jono decided, shrugging one shoulder a little before shifting his weight. Carefully. //... Help me up again?//

Cold nasty bathwater didn't sound half as comfortable as it had been when he'd gotten into the tub.

Hannibal gently moved Jono forward and levered himself out of the bath, toweling enough not to drip before turning to give Jono a hand.

[furnaceface]

And Jono reached for that hand, carefully easing himself back up to his feet.

... Out of the very pink water. Eegh.

//Thanks,// he murmured, reaching for a towel, too. //Now where'll be easiest for you to work?//

"Easiest? The kitchen," Hannibal answered, amused. "But a couch or bed will do as well. Where would be easiest for you?"

[furnaceface]

//The kitchen'll do if you don't mind carrying me when we're done,// Jono replied, since the whole 'healing himself' thing was on the docket, too. //I'm fine with whatever, either way.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"The couch it is." Hannibal finished drying off and slipped on his robe. "I'll put down towels and get ready while you dry off."

He didn't think Jono would be doing much more bleeding, but you never knew.

Jono nodded, carefully patting himself down with his towel. Just because there was anesthetic didn't mean other parts of him weren't still sore as hell, after all.

//I shouldn't be too long,// he replied. //Barring something trying to strike up unpleasant conversation while I dry off, I'll just be a minute or two.//

[sharp_as_knives]

Hannibal nodded and picked up the first aid kit. "If I hear other voices, I'm stabbing first and questioning after," he said.

[furnaceface]

//That works, too,// Jono replied, blinking. //If they aren't real, the worst that'll happen is maybe they'll make a mess, anyway.//

And then it would be blissfully silent again.

Until tomorrow.

"And if they are, they should know better than to climb in through windows or walls." Since the only door would have them walking by Hannibal first.

He put on comfortable but expendable pajama pants and an undershirt, then started setting out what he'd need.

//If they come in through walls, we tell Bob he needs to at least announce that he's here before sneaking up on people,// Jono reasoned. //Maybe not out in the park, but in our own bloody home? House rule.//

"We should tell him that anyway." Hannibal pulled the coffee table nearer to the table and sat upon it, putting himself at a good height. "I'm ready when you are." He pulled on gloves and started prepping the suture.

[furnaceface]

//Right, good...// Jono made his way out, towel wrapped around his waist mostly to catch any spare drips (and also because if they were going to be having unannounced imaginary visitors, he wanted to preserve some semblance of modesty), and then made a beeline for the couch. //Let's get this over with, then. See how much progress I make tonight.//

This was practically begging for some supernatural heckler or another to show up, wasn't it?

Definitely. But Hannibal would have a scalpel very handy.

He waited for Jono to settle, then cleaned his back again. "Where shall we start?"

[furnaceface]

Jono hesitated for a moment, before venturing, //Sutures first? I was about to say that you could stitch just as well with me awake or asleep, but if tonight brings nightmares just as bad as before, best of luck to you if I'm thrashing about. Might be easier for me to rebuild what's on the inside if there's something holding the puncture wounds together on the outside, too.//

Jono sucked at self-care, but if he had to pause and be logical about it, at least he could manage that.

Hannibal nodded and picked up the needle. "You shouldn't feel the needle, or the edges of the wound, but concentrate on what you can - feeling the skin pull towards the center as it joins together." He started stitching. "Think of replicating that on the other side of the wound."
