Hannibal's office in Baltimore, Sunday afternoon

This weekend Hannibal was himself (so far as he was aware), male, and wearing whichever clothes he felt like. He was wondering if he should keep an extra eye out - this could have been any day in Baltimore before he'd gone to teach at Fandom. Unless you counted the fact his patient was a werewolf, but he wasn't ruling that out any other time anymore, either; it seemed safest.

Meanwhile he sat in his office waiting for Derek.

"For me to be with." Because Derek was a big ol' romantic who couldn't handle meaningless sex.

"But Stiles is." For some value of the word "safe" that worked in Fandom and Beacon Hills. Which might not be saying much.

"I think so."

[sharp_as_knives]

"But you're still worried." Hannibal gestured. "Is there anything he could do to make you less worried?"

[justlurkinghere]

"I'm worried," Derek said slowly, working through the appropriate words here. "That it's going to be a let down for him."

And then he'd turn evil.

"He has all these things he wants to do like sex is just no big deal and--" Derek shrugged.

[sharp_as_knives]

"If he were, to put it vulgarly, horrid in bed," - hey, that was vulgar for Hannibal - "would it be a let down for you?"

"No, but he's not the older one here. With some kind of experience."

[sharp_as_knives]

"And you think that's what he expects you to be - experienced." Hannibal spread his hands. "Does he know your past history, or does he have reason to think you might be more well-versed?"

"He knows. About Kate." He made a face, trying not to cringe. "She hit on him when she came looking for me."

[sharp_as_knives]

Hannibal grimaced slightly. "Definitely not pleasant." If killing people hadn't been bad enough. Which...Hannibal.

"Does he know about your lack of other partners?" he clarified.

Gerard would probably be more Hannibal's liking. Though the cancer would make the food unusable.

"I told him." He made another face, sitting back in the chair. "It's like being a teenager again."

[sharp_as_knives]

"If he knows you have little experience, why should he expect more?" There was that logic again, Derek.

[justlurkinghere]

"I just want his first time to be better than mine was." You giant, closet romantic, you.

[sharp_as_knives]

"Unless you're planning to do quite a bit of damage, I'm sure that it will be. It probably won't be perfect, but I doubt you're planning on treating him the way that Kate treated you."

[justlurkinghere]

"No. Never." Because that would take a lot of work.

[sharp_as_knives]

That was a very poor reason not to be evil, Derek!

"Well, then. To one of your earlier points, he is a teenaged boy. And yet he's waiting until you're willing to sleep with him. Would you concede that he's after more than sex?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Yeah." Considering the cuddling. Oh god, the cuddling.

[sharp_as_knives]

"At the risk of sounding facile, there is more to sex than the physical experience. If he feels for you as you do for him, I doubt he will be disappointed." And if he were, best to find out quickly, but Derek probably didn't want to hear that.

[justlurkinghere]

So rude, Hannibal.

Derek sighed, looking down at his hands. "I'm worried I will do something like her without realizing. Like she burned her mark into me and it's never going away. I'm... sullied. Dirty because of it."

[sharp_as_knives]

"You feel dirty because of the things you did with her, or because of the person she turned out to be?"

[justlurkinghere]

"Both, I think."

[sharp_as_knives]

"And which of those are you likely to do with Stiles?" Hannibal asked.

[justlurkinghere]

"I don't know. That's the problem."

[sharp_as_knives]

"If you're worried about specific acts, I would say that's what the survey is for." Hannibal nodded at it. "If you feel any trepidation about something, mark it down. Then talk about it."

There was that word again.

"For the other concern...everybody has darker impulses. Do you feel your problem is in controlling yours, or in recognizing them?"

They talked! Awkwardly. As one does.

"Recognizing?" Maybe. His control was pretty good normally, at least.
