London, Thursday Fandom time

Flashback, Gramex, and Intoxica behind them, Hannibal was now happily browsing in Harold Moores. He hadn't found much so far today, but he enjoyed just browsing through the vinyl and CDs, finding things he hadn't heard before. And Jono didn't seem to be too put out over all the shopping.

There were some kinds of shopping that Jono could VERY much get behind, it was true. If there was music involved? Well, good luck getting him to stop. As it stood, he had himself an armload of records, and was now happily perusing the selection of indie releases by new local bands.

Ooh. That one, and that one. Maybe one of those...

//This is how you go on vacation.//

Hannibal chuckled. "As opposed to relaxing in a spa, eating good food, and supplementing your wardrobe?" They'd been vacationing just fine so far!

He put the Ryoji Ikeda album he was considering to one side and kept browsing. "I could argue this is less of a vacation and more a busman's holiday for you," he teased. Though somehow he doubted many of these would see the shelves at Groovy Tunes.

//My wardrobe is already plenty supplemented,// Jono argued, //and I end up taking half my merchandise home at the end of the day anyway. Might as well buy it from someplace else for a change of pace.//

"Especially since Portalocity has given us complimentary baggage on the way home in compensation."

Hannibal was possibly a little smug at that; he hadn't quite resorted to threats, but if they were going to be overly accommodating, he was certainly going to take advantage.

//Especially since that,// Jono agreed, practically beaming as he plucked another CD off the shelf. //So we had best take advantage of it while we can, hm? Is there anything large you've always wanted to get that'd break the bank with shipping alone? Furniture? Appliances? Perhaps a small elephant?//

... Maybe not a small elephant.

Hannibal thought for a moment. "I sometimes miss having a motorbike. I'm not terribly fond of American makes."

//I knew there was a reason I liked you so much.//

Don't judge him, Hannibal. Jono had been putting off getting a bike for a while, in spite of the fact that he'd always been in love with the things, because paying to import a Norton would have been obscene.

//What make do you most like?//

There was childlike joy happening here, Hannibal. Childlike joy.

That joy was good to see. And rather amusing. Hannibal smiled over at him. "I prefer Triumph. They have some lovely bikes."

[furnaceface]

//They do,// Jono agreed, and if he was a more excitable man, he might have even gone so far as to bounce on his toes a little at that. //I'm a bit more fond of Norton, myself, but Triumph has some quality models.//

A beat.

//We should get bikes.//

Biiiikes.

Hannibal gave him a look of patently false astonishment. "More shopping? I'm not certain I can cope."

//I suppose the trick is to find something I actually want,// Jono mused, as though this was some sort of wild concept that was only occurring to him now. //Music and motorbikes. Hell, I'll even admit there are some types of clothing I don't mind shopping for.//

Mostly things that didn't require somebody measuring him, or taking off his shirt, or effort.

Grabbing t-shirts off a rack was not clothing shopping, Jono.

"Come to that," Hannibal said, "I don't believe I have any leathers anymore, either. So there will be more clothing shopping involved in buying bikes."

[furnaceface]

//... I can be okay with going leather shopping with you.//

Read: Jono could be okay with watching Hannibal try on leathers.

Very okay.

Hannibal might be smirking just a little at that. "In that case, shall we finish up here? And do you know where we ought to start looking for bikes?"

[furnaceface]

The easy answer here would have been 'the internet.' But that wasn't even remotely the fun answer, and Jono was completely in this for the test driving, too. So he shrugged his shoulders.

//We can shop around,// he decided. //Especially since we want to completely different makes. Can't hurt to see what's around, can it?//

[sharp_as_knives]

"Not unless one of us falls off," Hannibal answered, grinning. He picked up the small pile he'd decided to purchase and headed for the register.

[furnaceface]

//Well, are you planning on dropping a bike any time soon? Because then I might have to take exception to this entire excursion.//

Bikes were to be treated with care! Care! No falling off!

"I haven't in years," Hannibal reassured him. "But then, I may be somewhat rusty."

[furnaceface]

//So, we can sign up in some sort of refresher course, I'm certain,// Jono mused, tilting his head as he thumbed through his armload of purchases-to-be. Hm. That seemed good, yes. //It isn't as though we don't have those in London, after all.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"Not that rusty." Hannibal shrugged. "We'll just test drive a few of the bikes we're not buying first."

Wouldn't want to scratch the good ones!

[furnaceface]

//... Actually, that's not a bad plan, either.//

He wouldn't want to dent a Norton! That wouldn't do!

[sharp_as_knives]

"Then that's what we'll do." Hannibal smiled as he handed the clerk his card. "Clothes first, though. Whatever happens, I'd prefer fewer scratches on myself."

[furnaceface]

//Good lord, yes. I wouldn't ask you to get on a bike without proper leathers,// Jono protested, a step behind Hannibal and waiting to dump his own purchases on the counter. //Leather shopping isn't even my least favourite activity, you know.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"No, that would be visiting the tailor's," Hannibal said, amused. He finished his purchase and stood aside for Jono. "Or relaxing and having fun."

[furnaceface]

Just for you, Hannibal, Jono was going to work up a shudder.

//Ugh,// he muttered. //Fun.//

Who needed it?

"I think you may be allergic," Hannibal said. "We should be very careful you don't enjoy yourself too much. You could end up in hives."

[furnaceface]

//And I really don't want to end this entire London trip with itching.//

That sounded, all around, like a terrible way to go about things.

//But then, for the chance to get you in leathers?// He set his purchases on the counter and dug through his pocket for his wallet. //It's a sacrifice I am prepared to make.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"Oh?" Hannibal smirked. "You'll enjoy that, will you?"

[furnaceface]

//If you're surprised,// Jono mused, leaning sideways against the counter and handing the cashier his card, //you clearly haven't been paying attention.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"And yet you wonder why I so enjoy seeing you dressed up," Hannibal pointed out, grinning.

[furnaceface]

//You spend that time thinking about getting me undressed again?//

Look, those were Jono's reasons Hannibal.

"Some of it, yes," Hannibal agreed. "And I enjoy the play of different textures and cuts of clothing as you move." There was definitely some sexual component there, but he said it mostly as an aesthetic observation.

[furnaceface]

Jono, stop preening in the record store.

//Still have no idea how you managed to pull together that outfit around prom, you know,// he admitted. //But you do have an eye for that sort of thing.//

[sharp_as_knives]

"Years of experience and a lot of innate talent," Hannibal answered modestly. Please don't stop preening, Jono. It was a rare enough occasion.

[furnaceface]

//And that is why I continue to match black with black,// Jono decided. //Because experience. And talent.//

He was much better at pairing instruments. Fighting styles, even. Parts of a suit, though?

"You'll never learn if you don't try," Hannibal pointed out. Although he might have to go with all black himself, for the leathers. Not many came in plaid.
