Hannibal's house (which he and Jono are glad to be back to), Sunday morning

After the last few hectic days, Hannibal slept in (and made sure Jono did his best to do the same), then took the time to make himself a proper, involved breakfast. Grapefruit, crepes, thick-cut bacon, and his best coffee.

And strawberries. Because Jono hadn't had a wonderful weekend, either.

He was going to take his time just to enjoy everything in quiet now for a while.

"A shoulder and an arm and hand as well," Hannibal confirmed, offering Jono a hand up. "We can't have you sleeping on the table all day. You'd ache even more. And Joni would be calling for you at the door for hours."

//Little lady'll break my heart if it comes to that,// Jono replied, reaching for the offered hand and then carefully navigating his way off the table. Far easier said than done, all things considered. He wouldn't be getting up onto any tables again for quite some time. //It's bad enough when I need to buy back her love with treats after we're gone for a couple of days.//

Not that it took much, granted.

"You know she will forgive you." Hannibal supported Jono around the waist, keeping his torso as still as possible. "And probably end up sleeping on your feet all day."

//... I could live with that,// Jono decided, letting Hannibal take some of his weight. He was still too stubborn to lean on him entirely, really. //There are worse fates than having warm feet for a while.//

So, so many worse fates, really.

"True." They finished the short walk to the bedroom, and Hannibal lowered Jono to the bed. "Even if it also makes it difficult to move."

Jono probably wouldn't want to move much anyway.

Ah bed. Jono wasn't fond of you at the best of times, but right now he was about ready to move in and stay for a while.

//On the list of things that make it difficult to move go, Joni doesn't rank anywhere remotely near 'least desirable,'// he pointed out. //I have to say, at the very least, I'd much rather her than broken bones and all that.//

Lucky Jono, he got both! Or, at least, he probably would once Joni realized where they had gone.

Hannibal brought back a new roll of bandages and started wrapping Jono snugly.

"How is the pain?" he asked. "Will you be able to sleep?"

//It's not exactly pleasant, but I've slept through worse,// Jono replied. //Or, managed to get as much rest as I normally do, at least.//

Which was not much. At all.

//Just need to be careful about how I lay down. I'm running out of safe angles to sleep on.//

Hannibal tucked the end of the bandages in and let Jono lean on him to lever himself down. "I have to clean up, but I'll be back if you like." He could read as easily here as on the couch, after all.

Jono settled himself in as best as he could, sort of curled up on one side and hoping that was going to work out for him for a while, and nodded.

//Wouldn't mind the company,// he admitted. //From somebody who isn't likely to trap me here by sitting on my feet, and all.//

Hannibal chuckled. "I promise not to sit on your feet."

He stepped out and went back to the studio to clean up after the surgery.
