Gourmet suite at the Arms Hotel, Sunday

This was the most crowded Hannibal could recall being in quite some time. There were several children in the master bedroom, one of whom was apparently his, her other father in another bed in his room (yes, thank you, Angela, but they were not a couple here, and you could stop looking at them like that), and Jono's friends on the pull-out couch in the living room.

On the bright side, it was a built-in audience for breakfast. So Hannibal was brewing some excellent coffee while he worked as quietly as possible at cinnamon polenta pancakes, sweet potato & pork belly hash, rosemary grapefruit, thick-cut bacon, and toast from some very good, dense bread he had.

And mimosas for the adults. He had a feeling they still might need a drink.

[OOC: open to those who stayed the night and anyone with a need to drop by!]

And there was a sleepy Kathe, wandering over to hug Jono's leg.

"Want up," she mumbled into his knee.

Oh, tiny sleepy adorable shy baby. Rumpled and exhausted as he was, that didn't stop Jono's expression from softening as he crouched down to pick her up again.

//Of course, Kitten,// he replied, giving her a little bounce on his hip. //And look, there's breakfast on the way, luv. Hannibal is making pancakes. You like pancakes, right?//

They were probably much better than any pancakes Jono had ever made.

Oh, probably!

"I like them with syrup," Kathe said, smiling and leaning into him. Maybe clinging just a little. "And milk."

Milk was good for everything!

//Milk in a cup and not actually on the pancakes, I hope?//

Because there was no accounting for the tastes of small children. None.

[identity profile] borrowedchance.livejournal.com 2014-02-16 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
She giggled.

"Milk would spill off a plate!"
furnaceface: (Told you so)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2014-02-16 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
//And pancakes would be difficult to eat out of a cup,// Jono agreed, once again asking himself if he really had to send this one back through the portal when the weekend was through. //So it would seem that I'm doing breakfast wrong, hm?//

[identity profile] borrowedchance.livejournal.com 2014-02-16 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"You eat pancakes in a cup?" she asked, laughing and flinging her arms around Dad's neck. "That's all wrong, Daddy."

Well, he didn't eat pancakes at all, but the happy tiny girl was being happy and tiny enough to keep him from getting terribly down about that.

//Well, how would you suggest I do it?//

[identity profile] borrowedchance.livejournal.com 2014-02-16 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, sometimes he had a face!

She kissed him. "I don't know," she said, giggling a little more. "Maybe magic?"

Mostly Kathe just wanted to see magic.

"Can people eat with magic?"
furnaceface: (Casual conversation)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2014-02-16 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
//I'm certain some people can,// Jono replied. //Auntie Karla, for sure. And, I suppose, I've eaten using magic a few times, too.//

Well, he'd experienced taste thanks to Karla's Craft letting him share her senses while she ate. Almost the same thing.

[identity profile] borrowedchance.livejournal.com 2014-02-16 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Then pancakes should be eaten with magic," she said reasonably. "And no spills."
furnaceface: (Turtleneck)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2014-02-16 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
//Naturally. With as good as Hannibal cooks? A spill would be a terrible waste, indeed.//

Really. Take it from the one person in the room who couldn't eat it.

[identity profile] borrowedchance.livejournal.com 2014-02-16 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"And a mess," she said sleepily, because Daddy's arms were comfortable and she could totally fall asleep again if she wanted to. "And Mom says a mess needs to be cleaned."
furnaceface: (Mopey)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2014-02-16 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
//Well, if it came to that, I'm sure I could handle cleaning up any spilled milk,// Jono replied, swaying a little, because he sensed a nap coming on. //It's a problem easily solved.//

[identity profile] borrowedchance.livejournal.com 2014-02-17 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Kathe yawned and rested her head against his shoulder. "Not sleepy," she mumbled to him, since that was a perfectly valid answer to problem solving.
furnaceface: (Orly?)

[personal profile] furnaceface 2014-02-17 02:02 pm (UTC)(link)
//Not even a little bit,// Jono replied soothingly.

Oh yes, he absolutely believed her. That was why he was swaying a little more. Sleepy little girl? Time for more sleep.
